For a true Viking, to live is to win. To increase your chances of success, you need to use all the methods at your disposal, including gems and runes. Read more about how to use them in this article.
Gems
Inlaying your strong armor and powerful weapon with gems will turn them into your enemies’ worst nightmare. It will allow you to increase not only your military and economic stats, but your Hero’s stats as well.
You can receive these trophies in battles with Invaders and Uber Invaders. You will need a special building to work with gems – the Workshop. It is available for construction at Palace level 1.
Runes
Runes are true markers of mightiness and perseverance. They give you significantly more bonuses than gems, but they’re harder to obtain.
First of all, you need to collect rune fragments by banishing Ghosts or yielding resources in their Shelters. Then fuse the fragments in the Rune Workshop. Don’t worry if you haven’t managed to construct this building yet: all the fragments you collect are stored in the Inventory.
Fusing gems and runes
There’s no need to put up with mediocrity when you can get the best. To increase the value of bonuses, increase the class of your gems and runes.
There are a total of 6 classes:
- Simple
- Usual
- Unusual
- Rare
- Epic
- Legendary
Increasing the class of gems and runes is a costly process. To do it, you need to collect 4 gems or runes of the same class.
For example:
- 4 Unusual Jaspers = 1 Rare Jasper
- 4 Epic Havoc runes = 1 Legendary Havoc rune
You can fuse gems and runes for Silver in a process that takes some time, or do it instantly for Gold. The higher the resulting gem or rune’s class, the more costly the fusing process.
The maximum resulting class of gems depends on the Workshop level, and the resulting class of runes depends on your learned Knowledge. If you want to speed up the rune fusing process, upgrade the Rune Workshop.
Inlaying
To inlay gems or runes into a piece of equipment, it must have free slots.
The number of slots depends on the equipment type:
- Simple and Usual equipment – 1 slot for gems
- Unusual and Rare equipment – 2 slots for gems
- Epic equipment – 3 slots for gems
- Legendary equipment – 3 slots for gems and 1 slot for a rune
You cannot inlay a piece of equipment of a certain type with a gem of a higher class. This means that you can inlay an Unusual piece of equipment with Unusual, Usual, or Simple gems, but not with a rune. You also will not be able to use two identical gems in one piece of equipment.
If you decide to change an inlaid gem or rune, you can either destroy it or remove it using a Diamond or Runic Knife.
Victory or defeat are not determined solely by the will of the gods. Meet your enemy fully armed and use every possible means to become stronger!
